Nathan's one year appointment

I've been an absent blogger.  I did want to share some background on Nathan's weight issues.
Nathan had a crappy appointment. The doctor isn't happy with his weight. He only gained 11oz since his 9 month check-up. Leaving him under the 5 percentile at 18lbs 14 oz. On the plus he is now in the 25 percentile in height at 28 3/4 inches.

So, I told her that he gags on chunky foods and is a very picky eater w/ textures. So she told me to add butter to everything and to come in for a weight check in 6 weeks. And if he doesn't gain we can talk about seeing a GI. It's kinda bittersweet as I made it to a year exclusively breastfeeding only to find out the fruit of my labors is a scrawny kid. She tells me I need to start supplementing him whole milk. She sounded skeptical about my supply because I told her I don't pump and therefore she says I have "no idea" what I actually have (grr).

Fastforward to today.  He has his check this coming Tuesday.  He kinda looks the same to me. Hopefully he will have gained weight.

He had a good birthday. I only spent two days planning with a 35 dollar budget for decorations. Soooo there isn't much to see. But he was such a party star no one noticed. Here are a couple pics:

Spoon free lunch

He rocked lunch today!! I started off with some shredded cheese and he threw that, then I got some bread and started munching down. And refused to give him any for like 5 minutes. And then he was like, ummmmm.... So, I finally let him try some. And then he ate the bread and EVOO, and then he started eating the cheese.

Then I was like, let me see. I got a pear and sliced it into big chunks and put it in a bowl to see what he would do. Well he squished it and squished it, then he finally sucked his fingers and then he ate half the pear! With his bare hands. It was messy but he did it. I stopped as soon as he started to try and throw something.

Anyway it was while I was cleaning up I realized that I didn't once use a spoon. He didn't have a drop of yogurt either!

Operations fatten Nathan up for his weight check in three weeks is finally taking off.
